At its annual WWDC keynote on Monday, Apple Inc. announced new augmented-reality features for its next mobile operating system, iOS 12. The company said it was creating a new file format called USDZ that would support AR visuals. The company also showed off a measuring app that makes use of AR technology to map the dimensions of real-life objects, without the need for a measuring tape. Apple made upgrades to its ARKit platform as well, as the new ARKit will feature improved face tracking, 3D object detection, and multi-user AR. That will allow multiple users to play a game and interact with the same environment. Shares are up 1.4% in Monday trading, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 0.7%.
