The body of 4-year-old kidnap victim was allegedly found stuffed inside a box on his neighbour’s terrace in Sahibabad’s Garima Garden on Sunday morning, the police said.
The deceased is suspected to be Zaid Mohammad, who was allegedly kidnapped from outside his house in lane number 3 at Garima Garden in December 2016.
The discovery
“The wooden box from which the body was recovered had been covered by something light. The storm in the evening on June 2 blew the box’s cover away. On Sunday morning, a boy playing on the terrace peeped inside the box and spotted the remains. He raised an alarm, following which the house owner informed the police,” said a senior police officer.
DNA test
As soon as he heard about the discovery of remains on his neighbour’s terrace, Zaid’s father rushed to the spot.
He identified the body as his son’s with the help of the clothes, the officer said. The body has been sent for post-mortem and DNA testing.
“We have sent the body for post-mortem. Teams have been formed to investigate the matter,” said a senior police officer.
Stating that the remains were found in an extremely rigid condition, the police said it seems that the body was hidden inside the box after the murder.
Zaid lived in a house adjacent to where the body was discovered. The police had earlier arrested two suspects in the kidnapping case but failed to trace the missing 4-year-old.
A few days after Zaid was kidnapped, his father received a call demanding a ransom of ₹8 lakh for his release, a police officer said.
