To prevent use of plastic bags and promote environment-friendly practices, A. P. Pollution Control Board will make available jute bags at subsidized rate on Tuesday, World Environment Day. According to APPCB Executive Engineer R. Lakshmi Narayana, the bags made at a cost of ₹75 will be sold at ₹20 at the M.V.P., Gopalapatnam and Seethammadhara rythu bazaars.
Beach clean-up
A.P. Pollution Control Board and GVMC will organise cleaning of Ramakrishna Beach as a part of World Environment Day celebrations at 7 a.m. on Monday.
Collector Pravin Kumar and Municipal Commissioner M. Hari Narayanan will participate. Representatives of HPCL, Visakhapatnam Port and other stake- holders will attend.
On Tuesday, Mr. Pravin Kumar will flag off a rally at 6.30 a.m. on prevention of plastic pollution. Mr. Lakshmi Narayana requested the public to voluntarily participate in the beach cleaning.
