BEAVER FALLS — One man was injured Friday night when he was “slashed” in the arm by a man wielding a butcher knife, police said.
According to a police report, Richard Heard, 51, got into a fight with another man, then pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the arm, causing a “large laceration.”
Police said officers were called at about 6:35 p.m. to the College Hill Apartments on Fourth Avenue in Beaver Falls for a reported stabbing. Officers located the victim, who had been cut on the arm with a knife, police said.
According to the report, the victim got into a “verbal altercation” with Heard inside the apartment complex. Details of the argument were not specified in the report, but police said Heard “came after” the man with a butcher knife and “slashed him in the left arm.”
Video surveillance of the incident shows Heard striking the victim with a knife, police said.
Heard, of 3239 Fourth Ave., Apartment 4D, was charged by Beaver Falls police on June 1 with aggravated and simple assault. He was taken to the Beaver County Jail that night after failing to post a $20,000 bond.
