NAGPUR: Three women, including a senior citizen, were robbed of their valuables in different parts of the city in a span of just one hour on Sunday raising question mark over city police’s patrolling pattern.

In all three incidents, a peculiar modus operandi was adopted in which the miscreant(s) slapped the victims first and snatched their valuables even before they could realize anything.

In the first incident, 36-year-old Sandhya Pandey was targeted by an unidentified biker when she was seated on her parked two-wheeler at Aakar Nagar. The robber approached her from behind, slapped her on the face and snatched her gold chain and locket worth Rs50,000 even before she could realize what was happening. The woman later approached Gittikhadan police and lodged a complaint.

In the second incident, which took place on Saturday, Kalpana Meshram was robbed of her gold chain worth Rs30,000 by an unidentified biker on Katol Road when she was returning after a walk along with her husband Ravindra. The robber, incidentally, slapped the victim on her face before pulling the gold chain away from her. An offence has been registered at Gittikhadan police station.

In yet another incident, 65-year-old Anita Muley and her grandson were returning to their Pandey layout residence in Khamla on foot when a moped-borne robber targeted them. The robber approached the duo from behind, hit Anita first, snatched the purse from her shoulder and fled. A case has been registered with Rana Pratap Nagar police.
