VADODARA: Notorious gangster Azaruddin Sindhi alias Ajju Kaniyo was arrested from Wadi by detection of crime branch (DCB) of city police on Friday night.
Ajju, who was on the run for the past several months, was nabbed from his house in
Khangah Mohalla in Wadi following a specific tip-off. Police said that he was wanted in an attempt to murder case registered at
JP Road police station and a rioting case registered at City police station.
Ajju had recently come under scanner when he was allegedly shot at near
Madar Market in Panigate on May 12. The firing is suspected to be a fall-out of an extortion racket run that he runs in the area. His name had cropped up in a rioting incident that took place near Mandvi before Ganesh festivities last year.
According to police, Ajju has been involved in around 31 cases of attempt to murder, assault, criminal intimidation, robbery and extortion.
