LUDHIANA: Nowadays, most people can be seen applying sun creams to protect themselves from sunrays and dust particles. Due to the abnormal rise in mercury levels, most people are facing problems like skin allergy and burning sensations. So, they are trying to take precautions during extreme heat wave conditions.
MD (Medicine) Dr Rahul Kholi said people should cover their faces and body because of the deadly ultra-violet rays of the sun. They should consume good amounts of water to hydrate their body, and also protect themselves from infections like skin allergies. People should avoid walking outside at noon, specially small children and senior citizens.

People should also wear sun-glasses to protect their eyes from sunrays, smoke and dust. They should eat a good amount of fruits after ensuring their quality, as many fruits these days are injected, which are not good for people’s health. Children should wash their faces thrice a day and eat healthy food, said skin specialist Dr Anil Kapoor.

“Burning of the skin is a major problem students face,” said Muskaan Basin, a student of Khalsa College. “I am not able to attend summer classes because of the rise in temperatures, but I’m following some of the things to get rid of sunburn, such as applying suitable antiseptics and skin burn lotions.

The most vulnerable people are those riding two-wheelers daily, as direct sun rays affect them more than those commuting in four-wheelers. Sunburns can also cause hormonal imbalance, and skin rashes, warned skin specialist Dr Vijay Kumar.
