Arby's has closed its restaurant at 2337 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, but will be looking to relocate near the Bluebell Drive area. Also, the Arby's located at 3020 N. Wooster Ave., Dover, will close later in the summer and be converted into a Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, hopefully no later than Sept. 1, according to Dave Giesen, president of D and J Giesen Inc.

"Our license at the location has expired. Arby's has changed requirements for its sites and we would have had to remodel," said Giesen. "From an economic standpoint it makes more sense to relocate (from the E. High location)."

And location is a key. Giesen would expect the store to get more traffic around the W. High Avenue-Bluebell area of New Philadelphia.

People can still find Arby's at locations in New Philadelphia, one inside New Towne Mall and the other at 1444 Fourth St. NW. and the Dover location until the conversion. The Fourth Street location was remodeled previously and a big reason is because of the traffic it receives.

Giesen said the license for the Dover Arby's at the N. Wooster location also will expire soon and the decision was made to convert it to a Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers. He said the Arby's will still be open until it will close down for a couple of weeks while the conversion to the new restaurant takes place.

"We'd like it (Freddy's) to open no later than Sept. 1 because the weather should still be nice enough for people who enjoy frozen treats," said Giesen. "This will be the first location in this part of Ohio. There are locations in Dayton and Cincinnati."

The slogan for Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers is "The taste that brings you back."

Some of the menu items are burgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken breast sandwich, frozen custard, shakes and malts.
