Four months after increasing their salaries to ₹3.5 lakh, the Centre has issued fresh guidelines for allowances to the Governors for tours, hospitality, entertainment and furnishings. The allowances have been revised after four years.
The State governments pay the Governors salaries and allowances.
According to a notification issued by the Union Home Ministry last week, the West Bengal Governor will get the highest amount of ₹1.81 crore in allowances for tour, hospitality and entertainment. He will also be entitled to ₹80 lakh in allowance for renewal of furnishings and ₹72.06 lakh for the maintenance of the Raj Bhavans in Kolkata and Darjeeling.
The Tamil Nadu Governor will get ₹1.66 crore for tour, hospitality and entertainment, ₹7.50 lakh for renewal of furnishings and ₹6.5 crore for the maintenance of the Raj Bhavans in Chennai and Udhagamandalam.
The Bihar Governor will get ₹1.62 crore for tour, hospitality and entertainment, ₹62 lakh for renewal of furnishings and ₹80.2 lakh for the maintenance of the Raj Bhavan in Patna.
The Maharashtra Governor will get ₹1.14 crore for tour, hospitality and entertainment, ₹26.7 lakh for renewal of furnishings and ₹1.8 crore for the maintenance of the Raj Bhavans in Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur.
The Karnataka Governor will get ₹1.05 crore for tour, hospitality and entertainment, ₹6.5 lakh for renewal of furnishings and ₹38.2 lakh for the maintenance of the Raj Bhavan in Bangalore.
The Rajasthan Governor will be entitled to ₹93 lakh for tour, hospitality and entertainment, ₹1 lakh for the renewal of furnishings and ₹73.2 lakh for the maintenance of the Raj Bhavans in Jaipur and Mount Abu.
The Uttar Pradesh Governor will be entitled to ₹66 lakh for tour, hospitality and entertainment, ₹10 lakh for renewal of furnishings and ₹3.53 crore for the maintenance of the Raj Bhavan in Lucknow.
The Gujarat Governor is entitled to ₹55 lakh for tour, hospitality and entertainment, ₹15 lakh for renewal of furnishings and ₹20 lakh for the maintenance of the Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar.
The Haryana Governor will be entitled to ₹54.5 lakh for tour, hospitality and entertainment, ₹10 lakh for renewal of furnishings and ₹21.6 lakh for the maintenance of the Raj Bhavan in Chandigarh.
The Arunachal Pradesh Governor will be entitled to ₹54 lakh for tour, hospitality and entertainment, ₹10 lakh for renewal of furnishings and ₹30.75 lakh for the maintenance of the Raj Bhavan in Itanagar.
The Andhra Pradesh Governor will be entitled to ₹53 lakh for tour, hospitality and entertainment, ₹6 lakh for renewal of furnishings and ₹18.3 lakh for the maintenance of the Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad.
The Madhya Pradesh Governor will be entitled to ₹48.43 lakh for tour, hospitality and entertainment, ₹7.5 lakh for renewal of furnishings and ₹25.12 lakh for the maintenance of the Raj Bhavans in Bhopal and Panchmarhi.
