Roger D. Gallentine, 84, of New Sewickley Twp., passed away Friday, June 1, 2018, in the Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver. Born July 19, 1933, in Mill Run, Pa., a son of the late Cleveland G. and Mary Shoaff Gallentine, he was a retired welder with Littell Steel, New Brighton. He was a member of the New Sewickley Presbyterian Church, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and a retired assistant chief and member of the Pine Run Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Sara Elaine (Conn) Gallentine; one son and daughter-in-law, Roger B. and Patricia Gallentine, Georgia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane S. and Michael J. Guraly, Freedom, and Cheryl A. and Wayne Simmons, New Sewickley Twp.; five grandchildren, Faith Simmons, Michael Guraly, and David, Bethany, and Kimberly Gallentine; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Peryl Dene Wilcox, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME INC., 349 Adams St., Rochester, where a service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev Dennis Burnett. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Freedom. The family wishes memorial contributions be made to the New Sewickley Presbyterian Church, 101 Big Knob Rd., Rochester, PA 15074 or the Pine Run VFD, Freedom.
