Noida and Greater Noida: Nearly 6 to 8 hours outage was reported from sectors 28, 37, 29, 30, 18, 20, 100, 132, 51 and more on Friday night and Saturday morning due to Friday evening’s dust and thunderstorm. While pre-emptive routine shutdown was resorted during the dust storm, residents rue of long outages much after the storm had settled down.
“There was no power from 8pm to 2am in sectors 28, 29 and 37. This is a recurring feature with the onset of heat wave amidst string of storms. But till when will the power department cater to attend its lax infrastructure with loose hanging cables or faulty underground cables, overheating of transformers, worn-out poles, paucity of feeder circuits etc.?” questioned brigadier (rtd) Ashok Hak, a resident of Sector 28.
Pawan Yadav, a resident of Sector 100, rued that the area received maximum power cuts since last seven years.
A K Singh, superintending engineer, PVVNL said, “40 poles were uprooted in rural areas with many trees. But within Noida city there was no major problem and power was restored by 11 pm in most sectors,” Singh told TOI.
