Jacqueline Jossa Instagram: EastEnders star HITS BACK after Soap Awards 2018 backlash
JACQUELINE JOSSA joined her former EastEnders co-stars at the Soap Awards 2018 ceremony in London last night. Following the glitzy bash, the star hit back at Twitter users who accused her of making a cruel joke.
Jacqueline Jossa was forced to take to Instagram to defend herself after the Soap Awards 2018 in London last night.
It came as Hollyoaks was awarded the Best Storyline gong for character Lily Drinkwell’s (played by Lauren McQueen) self-harm story.
As the audience applauded the Channel 4 show for scooping the award, a camera panned to Jacqueline and her former colleagues Lacey Turner [who plays Stacey Slater in EastEnders] and Jake Wood [who portrays Max Branning].
In the clip, the 25-year-old could be seen speaking to her co-star Lacey, while they clapped their hands.
Speaking to the EastEnders actress, the pregnant soap star appeared to say: “I think they all self-harm on that show”.
The incident sparked backlash online, with one Twitter user writing: “‘I think they all self-harm on that show?’ I’m sure she is regretting this now,”
It’s been taken out of context!
“Ooooooo the shade on self harm and Hollyoaks @jacquelineMjos #BritishSoapAwards2018,”(sic) exclaimed another.
A third told the star: “Disappointed to see that you appeared to make a comment about the Hollyoaks self harm storyline.
“Care to elaborate on what you said to Lacey Turner?”
But, plenty of fans were quick to hit back at the criticism, with one writing: “Self harm is a serious issue, and affects so many, I hardly doubt she had any intentions of dismissing that or being nasty towards HollyOaks or that cast involved at all.
“@jacquelineMjos is a sweetheart, and a flippant remark is being blown huge.”
Meanwhile, Jacqueline rushed to Instagram to clear up the matter and explain the context for the remark.

In a lengthy Instagram upload, the actress penned: “Just to clear things up, Lacey asked me what the storyline was, as we couldn’t hear.
“I answered with, ‘I’m not actually sure. I think they all self harmed on the show.’”
She continued: “I didn’t watch the show I only went from the clip I saw previous, which involved three girls on a bed…”
“I haven’t watched the show recently so don’t actually know but always love it and wasn’t discrediting. I was literally answering what the storyline was.
“I know that self harm isn’t a joke. Obviously… and love any soap that tackles hard stories.
“It’s been taken out of context!

“Jack Wood’s sorry [story] involved self harm too, I wasn’t hating I was answering a question. Sorry for offence!!”(sic)
As she arrived at the star-studded event, Jacqueline was all smiles as she cradled her blossoming baby bump.
Sporting a stunning blue floor-length gown, the former Albert Square regular showed off her sparkling wedding ring - weeks after she and her husband Dan Osborne split.
Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for Jacqueline Jossa asking for comment.
EastEnders continues tomorrow on BBC One at 8pm.
