The car of Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) Mayor today crashed into a tree and fell on the roof of a building after the driver lost control over the vehicle, police said.
The vehicle of Mayor Kusum Sardet, who returned from China yesterday, was on surveillance duty to check the water supply when the accident took place, they said.
There were three people in the vehicle and one of them escaped unhurt.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur held a meeting with senior officers of the state government today to review the water supply situation in Shimla town.
His officers informed him that SMC Shimla received 37.63 MLD water, which was distributed according to the time table today.
Water was supplied in Krishna Nagar, Ram Bazaar, Lower Bazar, Jakoo, Benmore, Engine Ghar, Sanjauli Chowk, Dhalli, Mashobra, Bhattakufar, Shanti Vihar, Malyana and Shangti areas today and 1.85 lakh litres of water was also supplied in the different parts of the town through tankers.
The town has been divided into three zones and water would be supplied to Kusumpti, Pantha Ghati, Chhota Shimla, Vikasnagar, Patiyog, Kangnadhar, New Shimla and Khalini tomorrow.
The chief minister said water should be distributed strictly according to the scheduled time table.
