Civil Supplies Minister P. Thilothaman has said that ineligible persons should not be included in the priority list for ration supply. He added that steps should be taken to ensure that those deserving ration got the supplies.
Addressing a meeting of Civil Supplies officials here on Saturday, the Minister said though the national food security programme had been implemented in the State, distribution issues needed to be fully addressed.
Computerisation of ration distribution has been completed. Mr. Thilothaman said the Civil Supplies Department and the government were duty-bound to ensure that ration supplies reached the deserving and wanted all officials to work to meet the target.
The Minister suggested that checks on ration shops be conducted regularly and effectively to ensure that e-POS machines worked properly and supplies were regular.
Steps to distribute new ration cards have been taken, he said.
Supplyco Managing Director A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish, Civil Supplies Special Secretary Mini Antony, and Supplyco General Manager N. Tej Lohit Reddy were present.
