Pagani Zonda Continues To Live On With One-Off Aether Roadster

It might have been replaced by the Huayra since 2012, yet this yet another bespoke Zonda, officially dubbed the Pagani Zonda Aether.

Making its global debut at the ongoing Pagani Raduno event in Italy, the one-off roadster was commissioned by the owner of the equally unique Ferrari SP38 unveiled last week. Work on the car started roughly a year ago and, to our eyes, it is one of the finest Zonda models ever produced.

The exterior is a mix of matte and gloss carbon fiber which has been contrasted by a bright red stripe running down the center and red pinstripes on either side.

A host of parts inspired by the Zonda Cinque are also featured, including a carbon fiber roof scoop and the same air intakes on the rear wheel arches. A towering rear wing with subtle swan neck uprights, red ‘eyeliner’ under the headlights, black wheels, and a mammoth rear diffuser complete the exterior look.

Beneath the custom bodywork, the Zonda Aether reportedly features the carmaker’s naturally-aspirated 7.3-liter V12 delivering at least 760 hp, but potentially up to 800 hp. Unlike most Zondas, the Aether has also been equipped with a six-speed manual transmission sending power to the rear wheels.

We believe there are roughly two dozen Zondas that have been built from scratch or upgraded to 760-spec since the original 760RS premiered over six years ago.
