President Hassan Rouhani has welcomed the growing ties with Italy in recent years and says a credit line can facilitate the implementation of agreements between Iran and the major players in the European Union. In a letter Saturday to his Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella, President Rouhani congratulated the Italian leader and nation on Republic Day. Italy’s National Day celebrated on June 2 each year, Tasnim News Agency reported. “Constructive interaction and growing ties with the friendly country, Italy, a major member of the European Union, on the basis of mutual respect and interests has been a priority for the Islamic Republic,” the president said. “Relations between the two countries in various fields have been growing and I am confident that by signing the agreement on the line of credit, the path to implement deals signed between the two countries will be facilitated and accelerated,” he said. Rouhani visited Italy in January 2016 when the two countries signed a roadmap for development of ties in political, economic, cultural, tourism, scientific, and technological fields.
