MANGALURU: "Due attention will be paid to the development of Government First Grade and PU Colleges in the city. Staff council committees will be set up to aid this process," said Mangaluru City South
MLA Vedavyas Kamath.
"Steps will also be taken to develop these government educational institutions into model colleges," he said, while directing officials to draw up an action plan and work assiduously in achieving the same. Receiving memorandums from the public at the Atal Seva Kendra at Kodialbail, that also doubles up as his office, on Saturday, Vedavyas interacted with stakeholders from different sections of society - college teachers, education department officials, autorickshaw drivers and others who turned up in large numbers. Responding to the petitions, Vedavyas contacted the officials and instructed them to redress grievances that were brought to his attention, at the earliest.
People affected by the deluge that marooned this coastal city on May 29 too submitted their petitions to the legislator.
Vedavyas said he has directed officials of the Mangaluru City Corporation and the district administration to take care of their grievances. The district administration has already made a preliminary loss assessment and submitted its report to the state government.
When a delegation of autorickshaw drivers and owners drew his attention to problems faced by them, the MLA said he will take it up with the regional transport authority and find a solution to their problems.
