The DMK has decided to participate in the Assembly session from June 4 (Monday), taking into consideration “the request of alliance party leaders and the expectations of the people.”
A resolution to this effect was adopted during a meeting of district secretaries and MLAs of the party.
‘Faith in democracy’
“Though the AIADMK government had failed to respect democratic norms and was not in favour of constructive debates, the DMK, which had great faith in democracy and exchange of ideas, would participate in the Assembly proceedings,” the resolution read.
The DMK had pressed for a resolution seeking to ensure that there was no legal interference and pressure from corporate houses. Since the government was not ready to fulfil the expectations of the people, the DMK boycotted the Assembly, said the resolution passed during the meeting, which was chaired by DMK working president M.K. Stalin.
