GRETNA Thomas Franklin "Frank" Cox, age 69, of Gretna, died on Friday, June 1, 2018, at Centra Gretna Medical Center. Born on July 19, 1948, in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late George Thomas Cox and Ruby Anne Newman Cox Mattox. Mr. Cox was also predeceased by his first wife, Phyllis Cox; one brother, Terry Lee Cox; and three sisters, Rachel Lloyd, Paula Mae Wood, and Mary Frances Wood. He loved truck driving and was the owner operator of Cox Trucking. Mr. Cox was a U.S. Navy veteran and was of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed mechanic work and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Worley Cox of the residence; two sons, David O'Gorman and wife, Nikki of Jacksonville, N.C. and Kenneth Benton of Hurt; four daughters, Myrtle Ross and husband, Masin of Danville, Emily Cox and fianc‚, Matt of Dry Fork, Megan Edwards and husband, James of Roanoke, and Kelly Smith and husband, Tony of Gretna; five brothers, Robert Cox of Hurt, Roger Cox and wife, Brenda of Lynch Station, Willie Cox and wife, Jo of Evington, Danny Cox and wife, Sharon of Huddleston, and Roy Mattox and wife, Teresa of Lynchburg; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2018, at Colbert-Moran Chapel by the Rev. Bobby Brumfield. Burial will follow in the Cox Family Cemetery The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2018, at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
