LUDHIANA: Five people sustained third-degree burns in two fires reported in the city on Friday night.
The condition of all five is said to be serious. At the time this story was filed, they were under treatment at the PGIMER in Chandigarh. A woman and her two children, daughter
Anshika (5) and son Ansh (3), were injured after kerosene spilled on the floor of her kitchen caught fire.
As electricity supply was snapped by a storm, the woman,
Asha Rani, had lit a candle. However, when she was serving food, she accidentally touched the candle and it fell on the kerosene.
On hearing the trio’s shrieks, neighbours doused the flame and rushed them to a hospital.
Sushil Sharma and
Sudhir Sharma suffered serious burns after a fire broke out in their house in
Jugiana. The blaze was the fallout of the stove catching fire. They were rushed to the civil hospital here, and then referred to the PGIMER, Chandigarh.
Call 100 for fire
Like earlier, fire control-room numbers developed a technical snag at 6.30pm on Saturday. A similar thing had happened during the past two weekends. In case of a fire, people have been advised to call at 100.
