BENGALURU: Even as Congress and JD(S) put up a show of unity after negotiations over portfolios, there are murmurs within Congress over the coalition terms. The party high command’s decision to give chief minister HD Kumaraswamy a full five-year term has not gone down well with many party members.

AICC general secretary and Karnataka in charge, KC Venugopal on Friday announced Kumaraswamy would enjoy a five-year term and Congress would have a pre-poll alliance with JD(S) for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Congress leader in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge is learned to have voiced his concern over the terms of agreement between the parties.

At a Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee meeting on Saturday, state president G Parameshwara reportedly said Congress did not want to align with JD(S) initially, but that it had to be done to keep BJP out.
