HP CM reviews water supply situation in Shimla town

Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Friday held a meeting with senior officers of the state government through video conferencing from Chamba to review the supply of adequate drinking water in Shimla town.

He was informed that MC Shimla received 23.50 MLD water on Friday and the Municipal Corporation also received 1 MLD of water from Ghandal which was distributed according to the time table issued in of Kusumpti, Pantha Ghatti, Chhota Shimla, Vikasnagar, Patiyog, Kangnadhar, New Shimla, Khalini areas.  It was informed that 1.70 lakh litre water was supplied to different parts of the town through tankers.

Water will be supplied to Bharari, Ruldu Bhatta, Kaithu, Anadale, Summer Hill, Totu, Manjhiyat, Kachhi Ghati, Boleauganj, Tutikandi, Kanlog, Nabha and Fagli areas on June 2. Apart from this, water supply through tankers was also ensured where water could not be distributed due to some reasons.

The Chief Minister directed that water should be distributed strictly according to the scheduled time table.

IPH Minister Mahender Singh Thakur directed to install pumps on the tankers and water should be distributed by making use of long flexible pipes. He also asked to install hand pumps at identified spots.

Chief Secretary Vineet Chawdhry directed to keep the water ATM installed on the Ridge functional round the clock to facilitate the localities and tourists.
