Health Minister J P Nadda today took stock of the public health measures for Nipah Virus disease and reviewed the ground situation with the Health Minister of Kerala.
The disease has affected two districts of Kerala namely Kozhikode and Malappuram. As on date, 19 cases were reported and out of this, 17 death have been reported from these two districts.
After reviewing the situation, the Central Team led by Director, National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) suggested triage of Nipah cases and establishment of dedicated isolation facilities in district and strict infection control practices.
NCDC is monitoring the situation in various States and advisories have been sent to all the states. The Ministry said, all the samples collected from various States like Goa, Telangana, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh were found negative.
