Huge cache of arms seized from Jhumra

Working on a tip-off, a joint team of the district police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition near ‘Aman’ village, the forest area of Jhumra hillocks, about 55 km from the district headquarters of Bokaro on Friday.

“Today early in the morning we launched an operation in the forest area adjacent to village Aman situated at the top of Jhumra Pahar. Arms and ammunition hidden there by outlawed CPI Maoists have been recovered,” informed Kartik S, Superintendent of Police of Bokaro. 

Besides ammunitions of different calibres, the forces have also seized 4 country made pistols, electric detonators, punching machine, radio, camera along with splinter and large number of naxal literatures from an old dugout, said the SP.

A country made grenade was also found which was destroyed at the site with the help of electronic detonators.

On Tuesday last, a team of National Investigating Agency (NIA) with the assistance of Jharkhand Police and CRPF had recovered ten 0.303 bore rifles, a 9 mm carbine, a 9 mm pistol, one DBBL, two SBBL, Rs 3 lakh in cash, a large quantity of ammunition, levy receipts and other incriminating materials from Lugu Pahar area the Jhumra hillock regions in Bokaro district.

Earlier, on March 6, the police had arrested 15 armed Maoist cadres from Dumri in Giridih and recovered 12 other weapons, including AK-47, Insas, SLR and .303 rifles from them.

Besides others, cops also recovered 60 ATM cards, 199 letters of thanks issued by the Allahabad Bank for opening accounts and 1125 Aadhaar cards during the operation.
