COIMBATORE:
Nilgiris Mountain Rail's weekend round trip train service between Ooty and Ketti was inaugurated on Saturday. The train saw 95% occupancy on the first day and earned around Rs 26,000. The train was introduced on a trial basis as a tourist special service.
The train departed from Udhagamandalam Station in Ooty at 2.30pm with two second class coaches, which can accommodate 86 passengers, and reached Ketti at 3pm. The same train returned from Ketti at 3.30pm and and reached Udhagamandalam station at 4pm.
The train service is aimed to give tourists around 30 minutes to explore the Ketti station and the small hill town.

The Rs 300 ticket also includes a snacks like a samosa, a souvenir cap, a brochure on the history of the NMR and vegetable soup.
The inaugural train was received at the Ketti railway station by Rajya Sabha MP K R Arjunan and additional DRM of Salem division, Chandrapal.
