Eamonn gets gong at Palace... but no interview
TELEVISION presenter Eamonn Holmes asked the Queen for an interview yesterday when he collected an OBE for services to broadcasting. It was a cheeky request that the Queen immediately dismissed with laughter.
I told her that I have interviewed almost every member of her family except her
She has been recorded in “conversation” with several broadcasters over the years but never submitted herself to a formal interview.
Holmes, 58, co-presented GMTV for 12 years and then Sky News Sunrise for 11 years until 2016.
He now co-hosts This Morning with his wife Ruth Langsford.
Speaking at Buckingham Palace after receiving his honour, he recalled his efforts to persuade the Queen to give him the big interview.
“She talked about breakfast television and asked me how long I had been doing it and I said ‘too long’,” he said.
