The Tamil Nadu government has welcomed the Centre's decision to constitute Cauvery Water Management Authority, CMA. In a statement, Chief Minister E K Palaniswami hailed it as a victory for the government and farmers in the state. He added that the rights of Tamil Nadu and its farmers' livelihood have been retrieved.
Acting on the Supreme Court's direction, the Centre has constituted the CMA to address the dispute over sharing of river water among Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Puducherry and issued a gazette notification.
