Diver rescued near Rottnest after 'trouble breathing' 30 metres under water
A diver has had a close call off the coast of Rottnest Island, with Fremantle Sea Rescue and Rottnest rangers called on to help the man after it is believed he ran out of air.
Police were notified of the emergency near Rocky Bay about 10.25am Saturday, with a male diver having trouble breathing while at a depth of about 30 metres.
Police and a nurse joined the Rottnest rangers on a boat to the scene, while Fremantle Sea Rescue also rushed to the diver’s aid.
Fremantle Sea Rescue tweeted that the man had run out of air and had to make an emergency ascent.
The diver and a second person he was in the water with were picked up by the ranger boat and taken to the Rottnest Island nursing post to recover.
The man is not believed to be suffering any serious medical complications after the incident.
