Lake County Captains lose to South Bend, 3-0

South Bend, Ind.>> The Lake County Captains returned to their losing ways on June 2, falling to the South Bend Cubs, 3-0.

The Captains managed five hits, with Todd Isaacs and Will Benson getting doubles.

Lake County has lost seven of its last eight games. Their record fell to 22-34.

Captains starting pitcher Kirk McCarty (1-4, 6.33 ERA) pitched well but got no offensive support. He went 6 2/3 innings, giving up one run on four hits. He struck out four.

Dace Kime (11.57) gave up two runs in 1 1/3 innings of relief for the Captains.

The Captains have split the two games at South Bend and wrap up the series at 2:05 p.m. June 3 before returning to Eastlake on June 5 at 7 p.m. against Dayton.
