Truck driver charged over fatal Good Friday crash

Hunters heading into the bush saw the crash on the Desert Rd near Waiouru (file photo).

A 70-year-old man has been charged in relation to a fatal crash on the Desert Road on March 30.

The Good Friday crash claimed the lives of two children and injured their parents.

The man, a truck driver, is facing two charges of careless driving causing death and two charges of careless driving causing injury.

He has also been charged in relation to logbook offences.

He is due to appear in Taupō District Court on June 27.
