UK weather forecast: Will UK be hit by June HEATWAVE? Met Office long range forecast
BRITAIN has faced a week of muggy and humid conditions after major storms that left one dead with flash floods and lightning strikes. But could the UK bask in a 30C degree heatwave this June? Here is the latest Met Office long range forecast for this month.
This weekend, Britain will be bombarded with heavy showers and even more thunderstorms as an “danger to life” warning was issued.
A Met Office yellow weather warning was also put in place, suggesting thundery showers will dump nearly three inches of rain across parts of Britain this weekend.
Meteorologist Ellie Creed said: “Rain will slowly creep its way northwestwards, meanwhile showers will develop further west.
“For Northern Ireland, it could be heavy and thundery here. Iit will be humid for many of us with temperatures reaching highs of around 23 degrees.”
The Environment Agency has almost 50 flood alerts in place across central and northern England as river levels continue to rise after a week of downpours.
A spokesman said: “Surface water flooding is possible across parts of eastern and northern England on Saturday.
“Flooding may also occur from rivers in these areas, especially smaller rivers through towns and cities.
“Land, roads and some properties may flood and travel disruption is likely.”
But Brits need not fear, as the humid conditions will not stick around for long according to the Met Office long range forecast for June 2018.
