UNSC fails to adopt US-drafted resolution on Palestine

The (UNSC) has failed to adopt a US-drafted resolution on the protection of Palestinian civilians.

The US text, a competing draft resolution to a Kuwaiti one, got only one vote in favour -- from the itself, on Friday, reported.

Three of the 15 members -- Kuwait, and -- voted against it, and the remaining 11 members abstained.

A resolution needs at least nine affirmative votes to be adopted, on the condition that none of the five permanent members of the council -- Britain, China, France, Russia, the US -- votes against it.
