Rajkot: A man was caught and handed over to the police by public while he was trying to abduct a five-year-old girl from Kekavi Chowk in Rajkot on Saturday.
Police identified the accused as Gopal Soni (36), a Nepali national, who works as a security guard at a factory in Metoda area of Rajkot.
According to details of the case, Labhchand Bavaria (27) and his wife Rajbai Bavaaria (24) sell toys at a traffic signal on Kekavi Chowk. The couple has been living in Rajkot for the last four years. They are natives of Rajasthan and live in a rented house in Santoshinagar area of Rajkot. To sell toys, they also take the help of their children and bring them to Kekavi Chowk. The couple has three children — five-year-old Pinky, three-year-old Monu and one-year-old Dilkhush.
“On Saturday morning, while the couple was busy selling toys at the signal, their daughters were sitting under a tree by the roadside. It is then, Gopal came, grabbed Pinky’s hand and started dragging her. When Pinky started shouting for help, her mother Rajba, who held Dilkhush in her arms, ran towards her and caught hold of Gopal,” a police official said.
Gopal wriggled himself from Rajba’s grip and started to run. However, he was caught by passersby, who beat him up before handing him over to the police.
