Pedestrian hit by car on Marsa-Ħamrun bypass

30-year-old grievously injured

A man was hit by a car on the Marsa-Ħamrun bypass on Saturday afternoon, police said. 

The victim, a 30-year-old from Vittoriosa, was hit by a Volkswagen Polo driven by a 25-year-old man from Fgura. 

He was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital following the 3.30pm incident. Doctors later certified him as having been grievously injured as a result of the incident. 

The bypass was temporarily closed to traffic while police assessed the accident scene and reopened at around 4.25pm.

Police are investigating further.
