MANGALURU: A 75-year-old man allegedly killed his son-in-law during a drunken brawl in Baditutte in Bantwal taluk on Saturday.
Police arrested the one Mutthu Poojary, the accused, who murdered Rajaram (50) by using a chisel.
Rajaram, a native of Mudigere in Chikkamagaluru district, was staying in his father-in-law’s house. The two worked as carpenters and were addicted to alcohol.
The duo got drunk on Saturday morning and started quarreling when other family members were away. In the fit of rage, Mutthu attacked Rajaram. The victim received severe injuries on his head and abdomen and died instantly after which his neighbours alerted the police.
Rajaram is survived by his wife and three daughters. The eldest daughter is married.
A case has been registered at Bantwal Rural police station in this regard.
