Palanpur: In a second of its kind incident in week’s time, a 20-year-old from Thakor community was thrashed for suffixing ‘Sinh’ to his name on social media site in Unn village of Kankrej taluka of Banaskantha.
Cops arrested six youths on Saturday from Darbar community for carrying out assault on Himmatsinh Chauhan from Unn village. On Tuesday last, Ranjit Thakor had to shave off his moustache for suffixing ‘Sinh’ to his name in an invitation card. Police sub-inspector A K Bharwad of Thara police station said, “We have arrested all six youths of Darbar community for assaulting the youth.”
The accused contacted Chauhan after noticing his name on FB. They not only objected to his move to suffix ‘Sinh’ to his name, but also thrashed him. Sources said Chauhan has same name registered in his school records. Police have registered the case under Sections 394,395,506(b) and 294 of the Indian Penal Code. The accused have been identified as Digubha Vaghela, Pankajsinh Vaghela, Ramubha Vaghela and Arjunsinh Vaghela all in the age group of 20 to 25 years.
