THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Close on the heels of its thumping victory in
Chengannur bypoll,
LDF won 12 seats in the local body byelections held in 19 wards across the state.
UDF won the remaining seven seats and
BJP drew a blank. However, LDF lost four seats it won in 2015 elections to UDF and could wrest only two from the rival front besides one from Kerala Congress (M).
While UDF wrested Karinkutty (Ranni Angadi-Pathanamthitta), Vettikkuzhakkavala (Kattappana-Idukki), Samoohya Seva Sangham (Pallipuram, Ernakulam) and Pothukallu (Nilambur, Malappuram) wards from the LDF, the latter snatched Karuvilanchi (Vilappil, Thiruvananthapuram) and Kuzhikkala Kizhakku (Mallappuzhassery, Pathanamthitta) from the UDF and Onthekkadu ward from KC(M).
Elections were held on Thursday in 11 panchayat wards in Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur, one block panchayat ward each in Kollam and
Palakkad districts, one ward in Kollam city corporation and one municipality ward each in Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur districts.
