Alva Edward Hunter Jr., 65, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, May 31, 2018.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be from 4 to
7 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2018, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW.
Alva was born July 15, 1952, in Iowa City, the son of Alvin and Doris (Augustine) Hunter. Alva was united in marriage to Starlene Kallwait. They were later divorced. He worked for many years at Bertelli Construction. Alva was a dedicated mechanic and loved working on all kinds of vehicles. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Alva is survived by his children, Starletta Hunter (Corey Aalbers) of Miller, S.D., Wanda Guerrero of Rapid City, S.D., Dusty (Aubrey) Hunter of Box Elder, S.D., and Kimberly Hunter of Box Elder, S.D.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his siblings, Darlene (John) Youngman, Marvin Hunter and Linda (Richard) Vermace; his nieces and nephews; and special friends, Don, Mary, Bob, Pat and many more.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his former wife; and his siblings, Harold Hunter, Kenneth Hunter, Sandy Smith, Joy Halstead, Ronald Hunter Sr. and Robert Hunter.
