LEETSDALE — A longtime North Allegheny School District administrator will become superintendent of Quaker Valley School District come August.
Tammy Andreyko was approved by the school board during a special legislative session Thursday. She is scheduled to begin work Aug. 6.
"We are extremely pleased to welcome Dr. Andreyko to QV as our new superintendent," said Sarah Stoessel Heres, school board president, in a prepared statement. “We conducted a thorough search and interview process, and Dr Andreyko's robust academic background and experience make her a great fit to lead the district as we continue with our shared vision for the future.”
Andreyko has worked in the North Allegheny School District for the past 21 years, most recently as assistant superintendent overseeing curriculum and instruction, assessment, professional development, technology integration and comprehensive planning.
"This is an amazing opportunity, and I am truly grateful to serve the Quaker Valley School District and join this team of talented and caring educators,” said Andreyko in a prepared statement. "Building upon a tradition of excellence, I am dedicated to making the community’s mission and vision grow for the young people in QV. I pledge to work tirelessly for the district’s continued success and embrace the new high school of the future.”
The new superintendent’s contract is a five-year agreement with a starting salary of $168,000.
Current Quaker Valley Superintendent Heidi Ondek announced in January that she would be leaving the district to become executive director of the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children. She worked in the district since 2004, and had been serving as superintendent since 2014.
“I believe Dr. Tammy Andreyko is a wonderful addition to the district and will promote strong leadership for the community through all of the exciting opportunities ahead. I am committed to assisting with the transition as Dr. Andreyko acclimates to the district and community," Ondek said in a prepared statement.
