AIADMK hails Rajini’s statement on firing

‘He has spoken with conscience’

A day after actor Rajinikanth appeared to support the stand of Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami over the police firing in Thoothukudi, the ruling AIADMK mouthpiece Namadhu Puratchi Thalaivi Amma welcomed the former’s statement.

In an article published on Thursday, the daily said that the actor had spoken with conscience. Mr. Rajinikanth had said that he believed that anti-social elements had infiltrated the anti-Sterlite protest march, leading to violence.

It welcomed Mr. Rajinikanth’s statement that the resignation of the Chief Minister wouldn’t be the solution. The article said that Mr. Rajinikanth statements (that continuous protests would turn Tamil Nadu into a graveyard) were a befitting reply to Communists and those who supporting protests every other time.

Meanwhile, during an interaction with reporters on Thursday, when asked about the statement of Mr. Rajinikanth, Fisheries Minister D. Jayakumar said as an individual person, the actor could say anything he wanted.
