Baker Hughes on Friday reported that the number of active U.S. rigs drilling for oil was up 2 at 861 this week. The rise follows a hefty increase of 15 oil rigs last week. The total active U.S. rig count, which includes oil and natural-gas rigs, edged up by 1 to 1,060, according to Baker Hughes. July West Texas Intermediate crude was down 60 cents, or 0.9%, at $66.44 a barrel, but up from $66.27 a barrel before the Baker Hughes numbers.
