TRICHY: Three passengers died and 14 others suffered injuries when an
omnibus overturned after hitting the road median near Alathur in
Perambalur district of Tamil Nadu in the early hours of Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Jegathambigai, 47, Siva, 37, and Mukesh Raja, 8. All hailed from Tuticorin district.
The omnibus, which had 33 passengers, two drivers and a cleaner, was going to Tuticorin from Chennai. The accident happened around 4am.
The injured were admitted to Perambalur government hospital.
The accident caused traffic congestion on the Chennai-Trichy National Highway. The bus was removed from the accident scene using a crane.
The Padalur police registered a case.
