Telangana government to take its achievements to grass-roots level

To bring out a handbook detailing welfare and development schemes launched by it

As it completes four years of governance marked with the launch of a plethora of welfare and development schemes, the State government has decided to aggressively take all that it has achieved to the grass-roots level.

The government has decided to bring out a handbook replete with statistics to explain to the people its achievements in the past four years. Relevant data from the departments concerned has been collected and efforts have been initiated to disseminate the same in an easy-to-use language to general public.

Senior officials said the State made significant progress in the past four years in terms of welfare and development of different sections announcing a spree of schemes.

The proactive nature of the policies could be seen from the fact that the State is on the verge of becoming power-surplus and is the first State in the country to provide 24-hour power supply to farmers as a welfare measure. It had topped the chart in ease of doing business for two consecutive years and is likely to retain the slot for the third year in succession.

According to the officials, the policies and programmes initiated by the government could place the State among the top performers in the country in a short span of four years. In comparison, States like Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand and Jharkhand could not make a significant mark in economic and other parameters almost 14 years after their formation.

Key announcements

The exercise assumes significance as the State enters the election year, starting with the formation day on Saturday where Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is expected to make some key announcements on behalf of his government. The draft handbook comprising over 400 initiatives launched by the government detailed in close to 300 pages deals mainly with the welfare schemes covering different sections like farmers, women and children, BC/SC/ST/minorities, students as well as employees.

The government is understood to have decided to print an adequate number of handbooks so that the information could reach the grass-root level.
