Ford F-Series Pickup Has Best May Sales Since 2000

Ford sold nearly 85,000 F-Series pickup trucks in May 2018.

The American automaker has announced F-Series sales increased 11.3 percent last month, to a total of 84,639 units. That means the F-Series lineup has had 13 consecutive months of year-over-year gains, and it’s the best May for F-Series since 2000. Ford said the F-Series is off to its best start since 2000 and is on track to post its ninth consecutive year gain.

Over the last nine months, the F-Series lineup has passed the 80,000-unit sale mark four times. Through May 2018, Ford has sold 371,934 F-Series pickup trucks.

In total, Ford experienced a 0.7-percent gain in sales last month, moving a total 242,824 vehicles. Mustang sales saw a 10.7-percent growth in May with a total of 8,739 units. The iconic model is still the best-selling sports car in both the U.S. and globally, a lead the Mustang has held since it first went global three years ago.

Serving as further evidence as to why Ford has decided to ax most of its passenger cars, sales were down 13.3 percent in that segment, while SUV sales saw a 0.5-percent increase.
