Rajinikanth’s statements echo views of BJP, AIADMK: Stalin

Asks actor to identify anti-socials for the benefit of the country

DMK working president M.K. Stalin on Thursday accused actor Rajinikanth of echoing the views of the BJP and the AIADMK in the anti-Sterlite protests.

Asked about Mr. Rajinikanth’s statement that Tamil Nadu would turn into a graveyard if people started protests for everything, the DMK leader told reporters that he also watched it on television and wondered if it was the actor’s own opinion.

“It sounds like an echo of the BJP and the ruling AIADMK’s statements,” he said. “Anyway, he (Rajinikanth) is a superstar. As he has said he knows who the anti-socials are. He can identify them for the benefit the country. Let us see if he does that,” Mr. Stalin said.

The DMK leader further said life itself was a struggle. “Without struggles, nothing can be achieved. Be it anti-Hindi agitation or freedom movement or Jallikattu protests, we have achieved the goal only by protests. I am sure he knows it,” he said.

MDMK general secretary Vaiko also condemned the actor for his statement on the Sterlite and other protests.
