GST ‘refund fortnight’ launched

Refund to be made in 60 days

As per the directions of Government of India and the GST Council, the Commercial Taxes Department, Puducherry, launched a ‘Refund Fortnight’ on Thursday.

The department, in a press note, has urged all business establishments and industries to utilise the opportunity to get their refund during the campaign which ends on June 14.

A salient feature of the GST is the input tax credit (ITC) for the goods and services utilised for the supplies made.

The input tax credit is available for inter and intra-State inward supplies made by the dealer.

The dealer can claim refund of accumulated ITC, inverted tax structure, supplies to SEZ unit/SEZ developer and for excess balance available in electronic cash ledger.

The dealer can apply for refund online through the common portal to generate Form GST RFD-01A.

It shall be submitted to the respective jurisdictional officer with the required documents.

On receipt of the hard copy of the application, the official will issue acknowledgement in RFD-02 and the refund will be sanctioned within 60 days from the date of submission of application, the release added.
