Two stands of fifty between Alastair Cook and Keaton Jennings and Cook and captain Joe Root put England in a commanding position at the end of the first day’s play of the second Test at Headingly. Earlier Pakistan were bowled out for a paltry 174 on day 1. All three senior England seamers, i.e. Stuart Broad, James Anderson and Chris Woakes picked three wickets each. Shadab khan was the best batsman for the team from subcontinent scoring a half-century.
