A record-setting eight Daytona Tortugas made the 2018 All-Star team in the Florida State League on Friday.
It’s the most All-Stars in Daytona’s history since that began to be tracked in 1966, and the most All-Stars for an FSL team since 2010 (Charlotte: 9). Daytona’s previous high was seven (1983).
The 57th annual FSL All-Star game is June 16 in Tampa.
The eight Tortugas are made up of five position players and three pitchers:
Catcher Tyler Stephenson (.288, 4 homers, 25 RBIs); third baseman Mitch Nay (.280, 5 homers, 33 RBIs); utilityman Brantley Bell (.216, homer, 16 RBIs); outfielder TJ Friedl (.314, 3 homers, 26 RBIs); outfielder Taylor Trammell (.299, 6 homers, 21 RBis); pitcher Tony Santillan (3-3, 2.44 ERA); pitcher Ryan Hendrix (1-2, 1.67 ERA, 2 saves) and pitcher Joel Kuhnel (0-1, 3.00 ERA, 6 saves).
