Pedestrians’ safety at stake at the intersection of Anna Salai and Uthamar Gandhi Salai

Pedestrians crossing the intersection of Anna Salai and Uthamar Gandhi Salai, Gemini Circle — Nungambakkam are exposed to danger from speeding vehicles. They have requested the Chennai Traffic Police (CTP) to effect changes in the functioning of the traffic lights to ensure pedestrians are able to cross comfortably and safely.

The CTP personnel deployed at the intersection force pedestrians to cross the intersection while vehicular traffic from Anna Salai Lane (below Gemini Flyover) and Greams Road moves left towards towards Uthamar Gandhi Salai.

Pedestrians face the risk of being knocked down by vehicles coming from Anna Salai Lane and Greams Road.

Adding to the risk faced by pedestrians, motorists coming from Uthamar Gandhi Salai take a free left turn towards Anna Salai.

A signal has been created for the benefit of motorists coming from Vadapalani and Nungambakkam to take a left turn and proceed straight towards Cathedral Road.
