New rules for minors visiting UAE sans parents

NEW DELHI: In a bid to check child trafficking, all minors (below 18 years of age) travelling to UAE by themselves or without their parents from June 1 will need an authorisation from their parents. Air India on Friday issued an advisory for minors travelling to UAE after Dubai police sounded an alert to prevent child trafficking.

“The procedure to be followed is: (1) All minors would need to have an authorisation form filled by their parents with relevant details of their address abroad and in the UAE and information about who would be receiving them in the UAE; (2) In case the minor is travelling with another family member, an authorisation letter from the parents or the guardians is still required,” the AI advisory read.

“(3) Airlines staff… can escort the minors through immigration provided that the above-mentioned form is filled...” it added.
